London Irish skipper Mike Catt helped end former club Bath's six-match winning run with a try in a comfortable success for the Exiles.

Catt and Scott Staniforth went over in the first half to put the Exiles in control at the break.

An Andy Dunne penalty at the start of the second half gave Bath some hope.

But a try and conversion from New Zealander Riki Flutey put the game beyond Bath's reach and Phil Murphy's effort secured a bonus point.

London Irish coach Brian Smith:
"The line-out was going to be a massive contest - the boys really turned up.

"When you prepare for Bath you know that James Hudson is a really smart guy and called the line-out as well as Steve Fawcett. Rob Fidler is a really good player too.

"They were short of a few players but I would say it was a fair contest. Bath have been together for three seasons and you can't take anything away from our lads."

Bath head coach John Connelly:
"You've got to look at the reasons why this loss was so high.

"Our line-out fell apart and they kicked very well for position in the first half.

"We had nine or 10 changes to our side from last week but we expected in to go better today. We lost some confidence - and when things start going like that you can't do much about it."
