Rod Macqueen has been named as coach of the Barbarians for their tour of England, Wales and Scotland in May and June.

The former Australia boss will be assisted by former France centre Philippe Sella on the three-match tour of Great Britain.

The Baa-baas are due to face England at Twickenham on 26 May, followed by Wales in Cardiff three days later and Scotland at Murrayfield on 1 June.

Players so far confirmed for the squad include Argentinian scrum-half Agustin Pichot, South Africans Braam van Straaten and Rassie Erasmus, together with Scotland number eight Simon Taylor.

Macqueen stepped down as Wallabies coach after last summer's 2-1 Test series triumph against the Lions.

He was in charge for 43 Tests, and lead the Wallabies to the 1999 World Cup final where they beat France in the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.

Macqueen said: "It will be an honour to coach the Barbarians.

"Now that rugby has entered into the professional era, the Barbarians are one of the bastions that I believe is so important to embrace and preserve."

On their last tour of Britain the Baa-baas won all three games, beating England 43-29, Wales 40-38 and Scotland 74-31.
