Sculthorpe best 'is yet to come'

St Helens coach Ian Millward reckons Paul Sculthorpe can get even better.

The Great Britain vice-captain took his points tally for Saints to 1,000 by kicking two goals in Friday's Engage Super League win over Huddersfield.

"I think it's an unbelievable milestone," said Millward. "Some people just want to score a try in their lives, let alone score 1,000 points.

"It just shows you how influential Paul has been in our success and I think his best years are in front of him."

Millward added: "How many points would he have scored if Sean Long had not been at the club?

"The mind boggles. In fact, he would probably be up there with figures like Andy Farrell."

Sculthorpe has scored 100 tries and kicked 304 goals, including eight drop goals, in 202 appearances for Saints.

The 27-year-old loose forward or stand-off joined the club from Warrington in 1997 for a then world-record fee for a forward of £370,000.
