Paul March's York - only two wins but a positive points difference.
|
York City Knights coach Paul March sees Sunday's home game against leaders Keighley as "a must-win game if we want to achieve anything this year".
"Keighley have hit a bit of form as well," said March, "and there are four ex-Knights coming back so hopefully we can give them a warm welcome."
After a poor start to their League Two campaign the Knights have now won two of their last three matches.
And the 50-28 win at Swinton last week lifted them into the top six.
Full-back Lee Mapals equalled the Knights club record of five tries in that win at Park Lane.
"He was outstanding," said March. "He popped up everywhere ball in hand. I can't fault him.
"He's there or thereabouts every time someone makes a break and long may it continue."

That's how I want my team to play, expansive rugby, throwing the ball around
|
Forward Mark Applegarth is back in favour after impressing in the reserve game in which, in the headline-making sprinter's own words, he "bashed up" sprinter Dwain Chambers in scoring a Knights try.
"Mark missed a couple of games due to his performances, " said March. "But he went to Castleford and I thought he was very good.
"He's come back into the team and on Sunday I thought he contributed well."
March wants no repeat of the slackness that let Swinton back into the game last week and instead wants to see more of the first-half display.
"People who went to the game will have seen that's how I want my team to play," he said. "Expansive rugby, throwing the ball around.
"Defensively, we got in their faces in the first half. I know the players we brought in are capable of doing that week-in, week-out. Now we've got that victory we can kick on."
