Smith to officiate in Australia
Top English referee Russell Smith will visit Australia this month to try his hand in the National Rugby League.

Smith has offered his services for at least eight weeks and will referee his first game in a trial between St George Illawarra and Manly on 26 February.

"I've refereed Australian players at the highest level and I believe I'll be able to adapt to the Australian conditions pretty quickly," said Smith.

Smith is the reigning international referee of the year.

He has refereed 25 internationals, 15 of them involving Australia, and been named English referee of the year on six occasions.
