Paul has been handed a number of roles during his career with the Bulls.
But he told BBC Sport: "I'm getting to the back end of my career now and I can't do too much more jumping around the positions from year to year.
"I'm a natural stand-off but I haven't played that position in years. I really want some consistency to be able to play and stay in one position."
