Bulldogs punish players
Canterbury Bulldogs have fined several players in the wake of the group sex scandal that overshadowed the start of the National Rugby League season.

The club did not reveal which players were punished but said the fines were up to 25% of their contract fees.

Bulldogs chief executive Malcolm Noad said: "These are probably the hardest fines in Australian sport's history."

Six players escaped police charges following allegations of sexual assault made by a 20-year-old woman.

The players were fined for breaching the club's code of conduct and Noad emphasized the penalties "have nothing to do with the police investigation".
