Kapil Dev, pictured bowling to Ian Botham in 1981, made his debut against Pakistan in 1978

A talented all-rounder, the "Haryana Hurricane" scored 5,248 Test runs and eight centuries
After retiring in 1994, he became India coach in 1999 but resigned a year later after match-fixing allegations
In 2002 Wisden name him Indian Cricketer of the Century ahead of Sunil Gavaskar and Tendulkar
