Antrim's Mark Allen clinched an exciting final 7-6
Antrim teenager Mark Allen has won the European Snooker Championship in Austria after a thrilling win over Alex Borg from Malta.

Allen showed the character of a great champion to pot a decisive black to complete a 7-6 success.

Allen had watched as Borg produced a 33 clearance, followed by breaks of 60 and 68 to come from six frames to three down to level the match.

That forced the deciding frame which Allen won 58-51 to take the title.

"I was 6-3 up but for the next three frames you would have thougth I had never played snooker before. I was completely gone" said Allen.

"He came back to level and I thought I had blown it. I did not think I had any chance but managed to get there in the end."
