Hendry is going for an eighth world title
|
Stephen Hendry set up a semi-final showdown against Ronnie O'Sullivan after racing to a 13-3 victory against qualifier Ian McCulloch.
Hendry started the second session with a 6-2 advantage and soon stretched his lead to seven frames as he took the first three of the afternoon.
McCulloch then stopped the rot with a century break in the 12th frame.
But Hendry rounded off the match in majestic fashion with two centuries in the last three frames to go through.
"I got into a lead last night and I was never in danger," said Hendry, who resumed the match 6-2 ahead.

I think Ronnie is probably playing at a higher standard than I have in this tournament

"When you get a lead like that you can play your natural game. It's something you can't do if you are behind. "
And Hendry is looking forward to what should be a titanic semi-final against O'Sullivan.
"I think it's the one everybody wanted. Let's hope we put on a show," he said.
"But If I want to win, I have to improve again. I think Ronnie is probably playing at a higher standard than I have in this tournament.
"He's capable of steamrollering me and I'm capable of steamrollering him."
McCulloch looked on the bright side despite being handed a drubbing.
"I came out 6-2 down and thought I had every chance but Stephen just got stronger.
"I missed a lot of balls but it's one of those things. At least I am consistent against him. I've played him six times and six times I've lost!"
Quarter-final result:
S Hendry (Sco) 13-3 I McCulloch (Eng)
