Sarah Storey and husband Barney won within an hour of each other, as GB took their cycling gold haul to 12.

Former swimmer Sarah Storey gained revenge on US rider Jennifer Schuble, with a world individual pursuit record of three minutes 36.637 seconds.

Barney clinched his second gold of the Games as tandem pilot alongside Anthony Kappes in the B&VI 1-3 sprint.

Then Darren Kenny, Jody Cundy and Mark Bristow defeated hosts China in the team sprint final in 49.323 seconds.

Starting on opposite sides of the track, the Chinese got away marginally faster but were unable to hold the advantage for more than a lap as the Britons team stormed home.

It was a fitting finale to the track cycling programme, where Britain have won all but one event in which they were involved.

Sarah Storey made her Paralympic debut in Barcelona aged 14, winning two gold medals, three silvers and one bronze in the pool under her maiden name Bailey.

On Monday Storey finished fifth behind Schuble in the 500m time trial despite being faster, because of a factoring system based on level of disability.

But this time she took gold even though Schuble set a world record for her class of 4:01.243.

In last month's Olympics Britain's Rebecca Romero - another dual sport medallist - won the event in 3:28.321.

"I can't quite believe I've gone 3:36. That would have got me a top eight place at the Olympics," said Storey.

"The fact that a Paralympian can finish in that sort of time and that sort of position is amazing.

"I can't remember much about the race except my legs are hurting."

With Kappes, Barney Storey defeated Argentina and Japan on the way to the sprint final, where they beat Australia 2-0 in the cat-and-mouse final, adding to their time-trial gold from Monday.

"With all the medals being won in the team it just gets you going more and more," he said.

Kappes revealed: "We crashed three weeks ago and that really hindered our progress.

"As a result we concentrated on the kilo and the sprint fell by the wayside a little bit.

"This morning's race felt like we were blowing the cobwebs away. The last couple of laps really hurt, but that's racing."

The focus for cycling moves later this week to the road, where Kenny, Storey, Bristow and Simon Richardson are in action again.

Road specialists David Stone and Rachel Morris will also start their Paralympic campaigns.
