Manx cyclist Mark Cavendish dropped out of the final stage of the Tour of Andalucia, in terrible conditions in Spain on Thursday.

The 24-year-old was one of 20 riders who abandoned the race midway through the stage after the rain took hold.

The event was won by the Manx cyclist's HTC-Colombia Australian team-mate Michael Rogers.

Cavendish's next race will be the five-day Tirreno-Adriatico in Italy, which starts on the 11 March.

The 24-year-old will use the race to prepare for his defence of his coveted Milan-San Remo title.
