Kennaugh will start the programme in November at the Velodrome

Isle of Man cyclist Tim Kennaugh has been awarded a place on the Great Britain Olympic Academy Programme. The 17-year-old told BBC Isle of Man: "I'm made up to be part of the programme and I'm going to make the most of my opportunity." Kennaugh is the latest in a long line of young Manx cyclists to attend the OAP including his brother Peter, Mark Cavendish and Jonny Bellis. He will join up with the squad at the start of November. He continued: "I will move to Manchester for the winter and train at the Velodrome and then the programme moves to Italy to train on the roads in the summer." The Olympic Academy (under-23) Programme aims to deliver riders to the Podium Programme, at which stage they are expected to be ready to win medals at World Championships and Olympics. Riders live the lives of full-time professional bike riders seven days a week.
