Jersey defied the poor weather to win bronze
|
Jersey shooters continued their good form at the British Open Championships, taking third place in the Opening Shot.
In the Championship long-range curtain-raiser, the shooters fired 15 over 900 and 1,000 yards at Bisley.
Jersey finished with a score of 577 to finish nine points behind Hertfordshire and just a single point behind Surrey.
The island team of Bruce Horwood, Wally Langley, Colin Mallett and Daniel Richardson performed exceedingly well in testing conditions.
Club captain Bruce Horwood said: "Once again, the coaches performed well and we maintained our strategy of only firing on a given wind strength and angle."
The weather played havoc, with rain and poor light conditions making target visibility a challenge.
However Jersey top scored on their range, only better by the Herts and Surrey teams further further down the firing line.
