Smith dives into semi-final
Jane Smith
British diver Jane Smith reached the women's 3m springboard semi-final after qualifying in 13th place.

The Briton scored a total 282.90 and will now start fifth of the 18 divers in Thursday's semi-final.

Russia's Yulia Pakhalina, who won the synchronised springboard gold in 2000, led the qualifiers with 347.04.

Blythe Hartley of Canada was second with two-time world champion and favourite Guo Jingjing of China in third place.

"I am in very good shape and I feel very well," said Pakhalina. "I do not care about the gold. For me, the most important thing is to have good dives. After that, we will see as the competition is tough."
