Russia, Japan in pool duel
Synchronised swimmers in action
The Russians and Japanese have a lock on the top two spots in the Olympic synchronized swimming contest after Tuesday's preliminary rounds.

Russia are first with 99.001 points and Japan second with 98.000 after the Olympic duet free preliminary routine.

USA pair Alison Bartosik and Anna Kozlova are third with 96.751, while Spain hold fourth place with 96.084.

The top 12 teams advanced to Wednesday night's final, which accounts for half of the total score.
