Sexton squeaks into final
Katie Sexton
Great Britain's Katy Sexton sneaked into the final of the women's 200m backstroke with the eighth-fastest time in the semi-finals.

Sexton finished fourth in the first semi-final in a time of two minutes 12.64 seconds and had an anxious wait to see if that would be enough.

And although the second heat was quicker than the first, Sexton just edged into Friday's final.

Russian Stanislava Komarova was the fastest qualifier, swimming 2:09.62.

Sexton improved on her heat time, when she swam two minutes, 13.25 seconds.

But she admitted that the controversy over the men's 200m backstroke, which preceded her semi-final, had distracted her.

"I'm just having trouble getting my mind into focus at the moment," Sexton told BBC Sport.
