Queally makes cycling squad
Jason Queally is included in the men's cycling team
Queally picked up a silver and gold medal in Sydney
Jason Queally could defend his Olympic kilometre crown after grabbing a place in Great Britain's cycling squad.

Queally won Britain's only cycling gold in Sydney in 2000 but since then Chris Hoy, Craig MacLean and Jamie Staff have also emerged as medal contenders.

"I am confident this is the strongest and most exciting Olympic team we've ever fielded," said British cycling programme director Dave Brailsford.

Nicole Cooke, who won the 2003 World Cup, heads up the women's squad.

The 20-year-old Welsh cyclist was too young to compete at the last Olympics but she goes to Greece with high hopes despite a niggling knee injury.

Queally, Hoy, MacLean and Staff will all fight it out for the two places on offer in the kilometre race.

In total 16 athletes have been named in the men's squad.

All the sprinters will be used in the heats but selection for the final is likely to depend on who hits their peak form in Athens.

Men's team:

Steve Cummings, Ross Edgar, Rob Hayles, Chris Hoy, Paul Manning, Craig MacLean, Chris Newton, Jason Queally, Jamie Staff, Bryan Steel, Bradley Wiggins, Roger Hammond, Jeremy Hunt, Charlie Wegelius, Julian Winn, David Millar.

Women's team:

Emma Davies, Victoria Pendleton, Rachel Heal, Sara Symington, Nicole Cooke.
