Favourites the United States beat Germany to move through to the last four of the men's beach volleyball.
Todd Rogers and Phil Dalhausser won 21-13 25-23 and next face Georgia's Renato Gomes and Jorge Terceiro, who beat the Netherlands 21-19 21-19.
The second semi-final will be an all-Brazilian encounter.
Defending champions Ricardo Santos and Emanuel Rego beat USA's Sean Rosenthal and Jake Gibb 21-18 21-16, setting up a tie with Marcio Araujo and Fabio Luiz.
Araujo and Luiz beat Florian Gosch and Alexander Horst of Austria, 22-20 21-17.
US pair Rogers and Dalhausser progressed after the Germans were penalised a point for delay of game in the second set.
That put the US 9-8 ahead but even the beneficiaries were unhappy about the umpire's decision.
"I didn't like it. In a situation like this, a heated contest... it's just not the right thing," said Rogers.
