Derry's hopes of retaining their Allianz NHL Division One status was still in jeopardy following a one-point defeat by Dublin in Enniskillen on Sunday. Despite holding what looked like a handy 3-7 to 1-7 half-time lead, Derry crashed to defeat in their relegation play-off thanks to an injury-time point by Dublin's Liam Ryan. Derry's hero was Michael Collins who fired in four goals as they held a 5-6 to 2-12 lead with seven minutes remaining. However, the late Dublin burst of points put paid to Derry's hopes of remaiing among the elite. Derry now play Meath next Sunday in a game that will decide who will be playing Division Two hurling next season.
