Magee on Hamed bill
Brian Magee won the IBO title with a first round stoppage in December
Magee's title is not recognised by the British authorities
Brian Magee will defend his International Boxing Organisation Super-middleweight title against American James Crawford in London on 23 March.

Magee will be part of a bill headlined by Naseem Hamed's comeback.

Thirty-two-year-old Crawford unsuccessfully challenged International Boxing Federation champion Sven Ottke last year.

The German knocked out Crawford in eight rounds.

However, Crawford is a durable competitor with a record of 36 wins and three draws in 38 fights.

Calzaghe number one

Magee claimed the IBO title with a first round stoppage of Argentinian Ramon Britez in Liverpool in December.

While Magee calls himself a 'world' champion, the IBO is not a recognised world sanctioning body in Britain.

Even though Magee is their champion, the IBO only rates him at 32 in their overall super-middleweight ratings with Crawford immediately below the Irishman in 33rd position.

The IBO rates Welshman Joe Calzaghe as the world's best super-middleweight.

Calzaghe is the World Boxing Organisation champion.
