Corser has had wins in Australia and Qatar so far this season
|
Troy Corser took his lead in the World Superbike Championship to 31 points with a double victory in round three.
Starting from pole in Valencia, the Australian quickly pulled away from Andrew Pitt and Chris Vermeulen in race one and his lead was never threatened.
Pitt stormed past him to take the lead in the second race, but Corser hit back on lap two and won by 5.361 seconds.
Champion James Toseland, struggling so far this year, could only finish eighth and 19th after starting from 23rd.
Britain's Chris Walker moved up from fifth to claim third in race two, his first podium placing of the season.
"I had a bit of a hairy moment on the hairpin a couple of laps from the end as well and I just thought that third place is better than nothing," he said.
Frenchman Regis Laconi missed both races after he crashed in the morning warm-up and suffered concussion.
