Toseland tipped as global star
James Toseland
Toseland was crowned world superbike champion last month
Former world superbike champion Neil Hodgson has tipped his successor James Toseland to be the next British star of global motorbiking.

Toseland won this year's World Superbike Championship last month after dominating his rivals.

And Hodgson said: "He's carried on progressing and, if he stops getting better now, he's still a fantastic champion and a world-class rider.

"But, if he continues to improve he can do anything he wants to do."

Hodgson struggled in 2004 in his first year in MotoGP but tipped Toseland to be capable of delivering the goods.

"He can go to MotoGP and cut it, absolutely," he said.

"He'd need to get a good team though - if he'd have got my ride this year he wouldn't have done any better than me."
