Coulthard urges Schumacher
McLaren driver David Coulthard
Coulthard wants a competitive car next year
David Coulthard has urged Ralf Schumacher to make up his mind as to where his future lies, so the Scot can make his own decision.

Coulthard is leaving McLaren at the end of this season, with Williams or Toyota his preferred destinations.

Schumacher insists he wants to stay at Williams, who have at least one vacancy for next season with Juan Pablo Montoya leaving for McLaren.

"Ralf, just hurry up and make a decision," Coulthard joked.

If Schumacher fails to agree a contract extension with Williams, Coulthard could return to the team who gave him his Formula One debut in 1994, to be partnered by a young up-and-coming driver.

"It is my intention to be on the grid next year, and obviously that means finding the most competitive drive that I can," he added.

Ralf Schumacher has been linked to Toyota and Renault in the past week although the French manufacturer swiftly denied any negotiations.

"I'm pretty clear about what we want to achieve with Williams this year," said the German, whose contract with the team expires at the end of the season.

"At the moment I am talking to BMW-Williams, which is where I am and where I would like to stay. We're still talking about it."
