Tatyana Lebedeva of Russia took gold in the triple jump in impressive style, out-leaping her nearest rival by more than half a metre.

But there was disappointment for Britain's Ashia Hansen, who came seventh, well over a metre behind the winner.

Lebedeva jumped straight into the lead in the first round with a season's best of 15.11m.

The colourful Russian later sealed victory with a jump of 15.25m, the fourth longest ever recorded.

Cameroon's Francoise Mbango Etone finished second with a jump of 14.60m.

She pipped Bulgarian jumper Tereza Marinova by just two centimetres.

Hansen was in philosophical mood after coming seventh with a mark of 14.10m.

"It just wasn't meant to be," said the Briton, who has been plagued by injury and personal problems in the past year.

"It was very windy down there at the start of the competition and my run-up was all over the place.

"Towards the end the wind died down, but by then I was just too tired.

"I tried to go for it, but it went completely wrong from the start.

"I could have done a lot better and I'm disappointed.

"But I still managed to finish seventh. I'm back and healthy - and now I can look forward to next year."

Hansen's year was hit by problems in her personal life.

She was involved in a court case which saw her former boyfriend jailed for faking an attack on himself which he claimed was racially motivated, in a bid to win her back.

However, she said she had been more concerned by the foot injury which had disrupted her season.

She added: "The court case was not my worst experience. My lowest point was last year when we couldn't find out what was wrong with my foot.

"We finally found out in February and I had an operation in March, so my preparations haven't exactly been perfect."
