Woods dropped a shot at the first hole giving closest opponents Duval and Mickelson a hint of opportunity. They squandered vital chances and the three-way battle became a contest won by experience. On his final hole Woods carded a birdie to claim his fourth successive Major in true style and enter the golf elite.

    Phil Mickelson is determined to catch Tiger

    Tiger Woods edged closer to winning his fourth successive Major, by keeping his composure in the third round at Augusta. But, nearest rival Phil Mickelson has other plans and is sticking on the Tiger's tail, at only one shot behind, going into the final day.

    Chris DiMarco managed to stay ahead
    DiMarco's nerves held out

    DiMarco defied those pundits who had written him off as a one-round wonder as he followed up his first day 65 with a 69 to stay ahead of the rest of the field. But Tiger Woods moved just two shots behind after completing a superb six-under 66 in his second round.

    Chris DiMarco's eight birdies put him in-front
    American's dominated the leaderboard, Chris DiMarco firing an early seven-under-par to set the pace. His round of 65 left him a shot in-front, with Spain leading the European challenge.
