Williams marches on
Mark Williams
Williams quickly completed his victory over Fu
Mark Williams wasted no time in the final session on Tuesday to storm into the quarter-finals of the UK Championship after beating Marco Fu.

The Welshman, defending the crown he won last year, claimed three out of the first four frames of the evening to clinch the tie against the Hong Kong player 9-3.

Williams, the world champion and world number one, began the evening with a commanding 6-2 lead and never looked in danger of losing the match.

Meanwhile, world number six Stephen Lee fought off a strong challenge from Brian Morgan to claim a 9-7 victory.

Morgan fought back from 4-0 and 6-3 down to reduce the deficit to 8-7 and a tense finish was guaranteed.

But he conceded 35 penalty points attempting to escape from a snooker in the 16th frame which handed Lee his quarter-final place.
