Ferrie win seals Wentworth spot
Kenneth Ferrie won by two shots at the K Club
Kenneth Ferrie's European Open victory has earned him a place in the HSBC World Match Play at the expense of joint runner-up Colin Montgomerie.

The Scot would have qualified for the Wentworth event in September if he had finished outright second at the K Club.

But a missed five-foot birdie putt at the last saw him tie with Graeme Storm.

Montgomerie can still qualify: 10 spots are available from this season's majors and the top two European Order of Merit non-exempt players also qualify.

Ferrie landed his place by finishing second in a table of world ranking points from four European Tour events - the Dubai Desert Classic, Johnnie Walker Classic, BMW Championship and European Open.

Argentina's Angel Cabrera finished top, while Ferrie finished with 49.6 points - 46 of them from his win - edging out Montgomerie (48.75).

Even if he is a first-round loser, Ferrie will add £60,000 to the £383,330 he earned in Ireland.
