Angel Cabrera captured his first European Tour title with a two-stroke victory on home soil in the Argentina Open.

Cabrera carded a closing round of 67 at the Jockey Club to hold off playing partner Carl Pettersson of Sweden with England's Graeme Storm in third.

The 31-year-old's 12-under-par total of 268 gave him the £81,000 first prize and a maiden success after five years on the tour.

He previously had four second places, two thirds and 17 other top-10 finishes on the tour.

Pettersson, playing only his ninth event on tour, carded a 69 to finish alone in second with Storm two shots further back.

England's Matt Blackey, Welshman Mark Mouland, Italian Costantino Rocca and Norway's Henrik Bjornstad shared fourth place on six-under.

Composure

Cabrera and Pettersson began the day tied on nine-under par with the Swede taking an early lead with a birdie on the first.

But after Cabrera birdied the second and Pettersson bogeyed the same hole, the Argentinian was never headed.

Pettersson closed the gap to two with a birdie on the 15th and then added another on the 16th.

But Cabrera held his nerve to maintain his lead over the closing holes.
