Tanni launches Sport Month scheme
Tanni Grey Thompson
Britain's most successful Paralympian Tanni Grey Thompson joined in the praise of millions of sports volunteers at the launch of Sport Month on Monday.

Led by Sport England, the initiative aims to secure mass participation in events across the UK in August as part of Year of the Volunteer.

Almost six million volunteers already contribute to sport at all levels.

Wheelchair athlete Grey Thompson, 35, said: "Without them, I would not have been able to achieve my success."

The 11-time Paralympic gold medallist heads to Manchester this weekend in search of more success at the Paralympic World Cup.

The inaugural event gets under way on Thursday, climaxing with an afternoon of athletics on Sunday.
