Defender Makoto Tanaka has been forced to pull out of Japan's World Cup squad because of a thigh injury.
The 30-year-old Tanaka did not feature in Japan's 2-2 draw with hosts Germany on Tuesday and returned to his homeland for treatment.
The Jubilo Iwata player has been replaced by 24-year-old FC Tokyo defender Teruyuki Moniwa.
Coach Zico also has concerns over striker Akira Kaji who was stretchered off during the match in Leverkusen.
