The former Tottenham midfielder has scored just one goal in his 27 appearances for the Championship club.
"He gets into some very good positions and if he was a more clinical finisher I think he would be playing at the very highest levels," he said.
"He's a creator of chances and if only he could score more himself, he would be a very good player indeed."
