Stoke City chairman Gunnar Gislason insists that owners Stoke Holding SA are still open to offers for the club.
The owners recently had an "informal offer" from Potters director Peter Coates, which was rejected as it did not meet their valuation.
Gislason explained in a statement: "It is safe to assume that Icelandic ownership of the majority shareholding in the club will not be eternal.
"Stoke Holding SA will continue to be willing to speak to potential buyers."
He added: "I don't know if at some stage in the future, Peter Coates and Stoke Holding SA will be able to agree on a fair valuation of the club.
"I am sure that with his financial clout and passion for the club, his aim would be to get the club promoted to the Premiership."
