Trainer delight at comeback form

Phil Trainer
Trainer scored nine league goals for Oxford last season

Oxford United midfielder Phil Trainer says he is in the form of his life.

The 27-year-old turned professional in 2007 after joining from Moor Green, but missed the start of this campaign because of a broken metatarsal.

But, having scored three goals in the last four games, he believes he is back fitter and stronger than ever.

The former Crewe trainee told BBC Oxford: "I am definitely playing the best football of my life. Full-time football has helped that as well."

"I came back in pre-season looking forward to the season and unfortunately got injured. But you just have to get your head down and carry on.

"It helps that the crowd, the stadium and the facilities are there. The goals just keep coming for me," he added.
