The 20-year-old arrived in the north west from the south coast in the early hours of Saturday after traffic caused his journey to take seven hours.
Poke signed in time for him to sit on the bench for the Latics' 4-1 victory over Chesterfield at Boundary Park.
He has yet to come make his senior Saints debut having come through their youth ranks, and will act as cover for Chris Day after Les Pogliacomi left.
