"He can run all day, he's quick, can get forward and pass it well, controls it well and heads it," Megson told the Evening Post newspaper.
Perch, 19, signed a new two-and-a-half year contract earlier this month to keep him at the City Ground until 2007.
"I never imagined I would be starting as many games as I have done," added the youngster.
