Ronaldo boost for Man Utd
Cristiano Ronaldo lies on the ground after the challenge at Old Trafford
Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo has suffered no long-term damage to his thigh after a tackle by Porto's Nuno Valente during Tuesday's Champions League defeat.

The 19-year-old winger was taken off the field on a stretcher but a scan has revealed no break or tears.

But Ronaldo still remains a doubt for Sunday's game with Manchester City.

The news will boost United as Mikael Silvestre, Eric Djemba-Djemba and Quinton Fortune all remain sidelined.

Defender Silvestre hobbled off in training on Monday, while Djemba-Djemba was also hurt in Champions League action against Porto.

Mikael could be out for two or three weeks
Sir Alex Ferguson
Silvestre faces several weeks out with a recurrence of his ankle injury, while midfielder Djemba-Djemba came off at half-time with a suspected broken rib.

"Mikael trained on Monday and in the last five minutes he stopped a shot and that was him out," United boss Sir Alex Ferguson said.

"It could maybe keep him out for two or three weeks now."

The champions are facing a critical spell of games following their European failure.

They need to win at the City of Manchester Stadium to keep their Premiership hopes alive.

Ferguson's men take on rivals Arsenal - who are nine points ahead of them in the league - in the FA Cup semi-final on 3 April.

Defeat in both these games would almost certainly leave the Red Devils without any major silverware this season.
