Cheltenham boss Martin Allen is hoping to make another signing before Thursday's loan transfer deadline.
The Robins are second-from-bottom in League One after Saturday's 1-0 defeat by Carlisle but Allen thinks his players are getting better.
He told BBC Radio Gloucestershire: "The players are doing well, they are moving in the right direction.
"To get that quality you have to pay money and we are trying to improve it but it takes time."
