Cambridge United have rejected a bid from Southend United for teenage defender Michael Morrison.
Shrimpers assistant boss Paul Brush said the two sides' valuations of the 19-year-old were "miles apart".
"He is a young player with no League experience that can develop," Brush told the club website.
"We wanted to pay an incentive-based transfer fee, they wanted a large proportion up front. It looks like any deal is dead in the water now."
Morrison has already trained with Chelsea, Newcastle and Everton, as well as Southend last month.
