Aston Villa have turned down a £4.5m bid from Portsmouth for midfielder Gareth Barry.
The 25-year-old's future has been put in doubt following the departure of manager David O'Leary.
Boss Harry Redknapp told The News: "Gareth is a talented player and we placed a bid with Aston Villa.
"They turned it down because he is someone they want to keep. I don't know if the situation will be different now David O'Leary has left."
Barry joined Aston Villa in 1997 and has made over 300 appearances for the Villans.
