In the first half Paul Murphy saved from Jamie Mulgrew and Albert Watson cleared a goalbound shot off the line.
In the second period Murphy denied Thomas Stewart and Peter Thompson with his knee while Mulgrew was just wide with a glancing header.
Watson cleared a Mark Dickson effort off the line and Gault bent a shot just wide of the post while Austin Friel and Gareth Scates had chances for United.
