Marks out of 10 for the England players in their 3-2 friendly international defeat by Denmark at Old Trafford.
David James: Rash challenge on Rommedahl earned him a booking, but had no chance with either of the goals. That apart, didn't have a save to make.
Gary Neville: Although only on the pitch for 15 minutes his indecisive marking cost England a goal. Hobbled off with an ankle injury.
Ashley Cole: Got forward well enough but was left exposed too often when the Danes doubled up down their right. Often targeted by the opposition.
Matthew Upson: Started shakily and gave away possession too frequently, and his poor tackle gave the Danes their penalty. Disappointing.
John Terry: Far more assured than Upson, Terry was perhaps the best of a poor back four and made several important blocks and tackles at crucial times.
Nicky Butt: An uninspiring performance, Butt sat at the base of England's midfield but failed to protect them from the Danish attacks. Looked off the pace.
David Beckham: A quiet display from the skipper, his passing was a touch off-colour and his set-pieces were not up to his usual high standards.
Frank Lampard: One of his best games in an England shirt, the Chelsea man looked comfortable on the ball and his distribution was much improved.
Joe Cole: Played an important role at the top of the diamond with more success than Paul Scholes lately. Ran well with the ball and took his goal assuredly.
Emile Heskey: The Liverpool striker continued his goal drought for England and never looked like scoring. He did work hard though.
Wayne Rooney: A devastating display. His passing was decisive and he opened the scoring with a thumping finish. Hit the post with a crashing drive.
Substitutes
Glenn Johnson (replaced Gary Neville, 15 mins): Came on and looked at home straight away on his international debut. A star of the future.
Paul Robinson (replaced David James, 46 mins): Made three top class saves from Gronkjaer, Perez and Lovenkrands, but a costly error for the third.
Wayne Bridge (replaced Ashley Cole, 46 mins): Another impressive England game, he showed his qualities both going forward and defensively.
Phil Neville (replaced Nicky Butt, 46 mins): Took a heavy knock early on, he stepped into Butt's role with about the same level of success.
James Beattie (replaced Emile Heskey, 46 mins): Held the ball up well and unselfishly set up Murphy, who blasted wide. Did his chances no harm at all.
Jermaine Jenas (replaced Wayne Rooney, 66 mins): Wasted no time once he came on with two defence-splitting passes almost immediately.
Scott Parker (replaced David Beckham, 66 mins): Could not get into the game as Denmark finished on top and will hope for another opportunity.
Danny Murphy (replaced Joe Cole, 76 mins): Blasted a good chance wide from Beattie's pass but was lively in possession. Decent cameo.
