A busy day, and while nothing has been decided in the Premiership things are getting clearer at both ends of the table. If Chelsea fail to beat Arsenal tomorrow Manchester United will be champions. If Charlton fail to beat Tottenham on Monday, they will be relegated.

After that there is Chelsea against table-toppers United on Wednesday and if things are still up in the air things will be finalised a week on Sunday when you can stay on top of everything here on the BBC Sport website.

1659: FULL-TIME Wigan 0-1 Middlesbrough
The Latics drop into the relegation zone for the first time since the second week of the season. Not great timing. They look doomed and will travel to Sheffield United on the last day of the season next Sunday. They have to win that and hope other things go their way.

1658: Wigan are desperate for an equaliser against Middlesbrough. As it stands they are three points from safety.

1657: FULL-TIME Everton 3-0 Portsmouth
But for a series of freak results in the final week of the season, that win should see Everton secure in a Uefa Cup spot. Portsmouth need a win at home to Arsenal on the final day of the season to have any hope of joining them in Europe.

1656: FULL-TIME Reading 0-2 Watford
Only a second away win of the league season for relegated Watford which puts a dent in Reading's Uefa Cup hopes. They stay in seventh but Tottenham, who are a point behind, have two games in hand.

1656: GOAL Everton 3-0 Portsmouth
A well-worked corner from Everton. James Beattie flicks it on at the near post and Gary Naysmith stoops at the back post to head home.

1654: FULL-TIME West Ham 3-1 Bolton
That's a sixth win in eight for the Hammers who are out of the relegation zone for the first time since December.

1654: FULL-TIME Fulham 1-0 Liverpool
After 10 Premiership matches without a win Fulham take the spoils at last and it is a first victory under Lawrie Sanchez. But there are bound to be some grumbles from other clubs at the wrong end of the table at Liverpool sending out a second-string side.

1654: Newcastle's players are getting booed on a lap of 'honour'.

Midfielder Papa Bouba Diop lunges at Mohamed Sissoko and gets a second yellow card. He would have wanted to celebrate the birth of his child with a better showing thatn that.

Is that Glenn Roeder's final game in charge of Newcastle at St James' Park.

1650: Chants of 'Sack the board' at Newcastle as time ticks down to the final whistle on Tyneside.

1648: Abdoulaye Meite gets a toe to Yossi Benayoun's inviting, low cross to take it away from Marlon Harewood with the goal gaping.

Reading bossed the first-half, but they are not going to end the day with any points to boost their chase for a Uefa Cup spot. Marcus Hahnemann fails to hold Tommy Smith's cross and Marlon King nods in. That's Watford's 10th away goal of the season.

1645: Wigan's Ryan Taylor fires a delightful free-kick just wide of the Middlesbrough goal. Bolton striker Nicolas Anelka has two efforts blocked at Upton Park.

1643: Liverpool have the ball in the back of the net as Gabriel Paletta glances in Xabi Alonso's free-kick but it is offside.

1633: Wigan do not look like they are going to get anything out of their match against Middlesbrough. Emile Heskey has been a willing runner in attack, but he is all too often isolated. At least that Gary Speed gives them hope in terms of goal difference as theirs is superior to West Ham's.

Jason Roberts is given space between the two Newcastle centre-backs and nods in David Bentley's cross from the right. Poor defending which has proved too much for some Newcastle fans who are heading for the exits.

1630: That means Wigan are three points off 17th place now. Charlton, a further place down the table are five points adrift of 17th as it stands.

What could be a priceless goal for Fulham. Liam Rosenior races down the right as Liverpool wait for the offside flag and American substitute Clint Dempsey turns in his cross.

1628: Michael Owen chests the ball past Blackburn keeper Brad Friedel but sees his effort on goal cleared off the line by the retreating Chrisopher Samba.

Wanderers first-team coach Gary Speed fires in with his left foot having been played in by Nicolas Anelka.

David James is barking expletives at his defence as Everton double their advantage. Joseph Yobo climbs above Pompey's statuesque defence to head in Mikel Arteta's corner. Too easy.

Danny Shittu scores from Lee Williamson's free-kick, but yellow-booted Reading keeper Marcus Hahnemann cannot believe how it wasn't offside. Replays show it wasn't.

Mikel Arteta scores, but only just. David James went the right way but the ball went through him.

1620: Glen Johnson slides in on James Vaighan in the box and it is a penalty to Everton. Reckless.

1618: Nicolas Anelka drives a low shot on target, but Hammers keeper Robert Green is down well low to his left to parry.

1615: Phil Neville's low cross from the right whistles through the box as Leon Osman and Portsmouth keeper David James fail to get a touch.

1614: Lubomir Michalik and Bobby Zamora tangle. The West Ham striker is booked, but the Bolton defender looks the more culpable.

1609: Charlton are the other team in the relegation zone and are still hoping to escape. Their boss Alan Pardew is at Craven Cottage keeping tabs on Liverpool, who they play on the final day. Des Lynam is also down by the Thames.

1608: Wigan and Middlesbrough are back up and running. THe Latics need a big second 45 to ensure they do not end the day in the relegation zone.

1606: Prior to the re-start at the Madejski Stadium, Reading mascot Kingsley the Lion pleas his innocence after being sent to the stands last time out. He holds his shirt up to reveal a message that reads: "Innocent".

1605: Fulham against Liverpool is the first game to resume.

1604: Rafael Benitez is late out of the tunnel at Craven Cottage and shows a decidedly slow turn of pace as he jogs across the pitch to get to the dug-outs.

1602: Summer's in the air around the grounds. It is so much better watching football with the sun on your back. Bit of a pain if it's in your eyes though.

1600: It is the last 'Hit the Bar' competition of the season at Goodison Park. That's to do with kicking the ball on to the crossbar and not a race to the local pub in the break.

1553: Wigan and Middlesbrough go in. Newcastle were booed off at their game against Blackburn. Maybe that was just the verdict on the new kit.

1548: What a miss! Jermaine Pennant slides a cross through to Robbie Fowler who misses an open goal. THe ball comes off his boot at a right-angle top the goal. Amazing.

1547: Six minutes of added time at the JJB. A head injury to Ryan Taylor and wrist injury to Andrew Davies the reason for that as they required some lengthy treatment.

1545: Michael Brown catches that sweetly - the ball, not somebody else's nose. The Fulham man's half volley from the edge of the box is blocked by Mohamed Sissoko.

1542: Bobby Zamora's storming run into the Bolton box causes chaos in the visiting ranks but Abdoulaye Meite gets a vital interception as Zamora attempts to find Carlos Tevez in the box.

1539: Reading are on top at Watford and you can expect a goal from the Royals soon. Leroy Lita should have had a penalty under a challenge from Cedric Avinel.

1536: Steve Harper can do nothing about that one, as Jason Roberts tucks the ball beyond him and into the net. But Newcastle and Harper are saved by the linesman's flag. Stupid play from Benni McCarthy and Roberts after they had raced through the home defence.

1535: A wonderful save from Newcastle's Steve Harper. The ball runs through to Morten Gamst Pedersen who picks his spot and volleys on target by Harper blocks.

1533: Nearly a hat-trick for Carlos Tevez. His shot is deflected off Ivan Campo and Jussi Jasskelainen bundles it around the post.

1532: That was a bad 60 seconds for Wigan. They are now mired in the relegation zone as it stands. Gone in 60 seconds? They've only won three of their last 21 games and it is not looking good for the Latics.

1531: GOAL West Ham 3-0 Bolton
Carlos Tevez can do no wrong - at least in the eyes of West Ham fans. His cross finds an unmarked Mark Noble to volley home a third for the Hammers.

1530: GOAL Wigan 0-1 Middlesbrough
A lucky goal for Boro - which is the last thing Wigan would have wanted. Stewart Downing slips as he takes a free-kick from the right and while the ball doesn't go where he intended, he lands perfectly on the in-step of Mark Viduka who volleys in at the back post.

1528: Michael Brown has commited the most fouls in the Premiership this season and there's some more dirty play from the Fulham skipper. He lands a headbutt on Xabi Alonso who comes off second best with a bloody nose. For the second time today a player is extremely lucky to stay on the field.

1525: Vincenzo Montella is at the heart of the action at the minute. The Italian flights a free-kick over the Liverpool goal.

1524: Fulham's Vincenzo Montella - AKA The Little Airplane - takes off to get on the end of a bicylce kick which is deflected on to the woodwork by Xabi Alonso.

1522: GOAL West Ham 2-0 Bolton
Upton Park is rocking. Who knows what will happen off the pitch, but on it the players are doing their bit. Mark Noble releases Luis Boa Morte who squares a pass for Carlos Tevez to pick his spot and fire past Jussi Jaaskelainen. Two shots on target. Two goals.

1521: Pepe Reina comes off his line to claw a Fulham cross from the left off the head of Brian McBride. It is a decade since Mohammed Al Fayed took the helm at the Cottage.

1520: What a chance for Everton. James Vaughan is through one-on-one with David James but makes a right old mess of the effort, stubbing the ball wide.

1518: Portsmouth threaten but Joseph Yobo is alert to clear the danger for Everton. Linvoy Primus heads the Pompey corner over.

Magpies boss Glenn Roeder looks aghast as his defence step up as one only to leave Benni McCarthy lurking in a predatory position. The South African volleys in Stephen Warnock's cross from six yards.

1506: Stephen Carr digs out a chipped cross which Kieron Dyer nods on goal but Brad Friedel pushes the effort round his post. Newcastle are wearing their new kit, which has more black and less white, particularly on the back. Where's Jeff Banks when you need him?

1505: A first sighter of goal and it comes at Upton Park. Bolton's David Thompson chips over from an acute angle.

1503: The Everton-Portsmouth game is the last of the six to start.

1500: There's a minute's silence at Everton for supporter Alan Jones, who died while on duty in Iraq.

1458: New Bolton boss Sammy Lee is suited and booted on the touchline at West Ham. Little Sam is wearing the Madonna ear-piece Big Sam was never without.

1456: West Ham, Wigan and Fulham are desperate for points this afternoon to help their survival bids. Further up the table Everton and Portsmouth go head-to-head in the race for a Uefa Cup place.

Everton play teenage strike duo James Vaughan and Victor Anichebe after Andew Johnson failed a fitness test on an ankle injury. Phil Neville reverts to full-back in place of Tonny Hibbert. Portsmouth are without injured Sol Campbell, Dejan Stefanovic, Matthew Taylor and Richard Hughes with Sean Davis, Niko Kranjcar and Noe Pamarot coming into the side that beat Liverpool.

Fulham make one change as Vincenzo Montella comes in for Claus Jensen. Liverpool make nine changes. Of the side that beat Chelsea in the Champions League, only goalkeeper Jose Reina and Jermaine Pennant are included in Rafa Benitez's starting line-up. That will not please other clubs involved in the relegation shakedown.

Newcastle recall Oguchi Onyewu, Scott Parker and Nicky Butt, while Michael Owen continues up front. Blackburn make just one change, with Tugay replacing the injured David Dunn.

Reading made four changes with Leroy Lita back from a ban while Steve Sidwell and James Harper start in midfield with Greg Halford in at right-back. French defender Cedric Avinel makes his Watford debut in place of the suspended Clark Carlisle while Darius Henderson, Tommy Smith and Douglas Rinaldi all return to the starting line-up.

West Ham are unchanged from the side that beat Wigan 3-0, with Alan Curbishley sticking with Carlos Tevez despite the potential legal implications. New Bolton boss Sammy Lee makes just the one alteration, bringing in skipper Kevin Nolan for Idan Tal.

Wigan boss Paul Jewell makes five changes from the side beaten by West Ham. In come Mike Pollit for John Filan, Ryan Taylor for Arjan de Zeeuw, Luis Antonio Valencia for Matt Jackson, Paul Scharner for Kevin Kilbane and Julius Agahowa for Henri Camara. Middlesbrough show two changes from the side beaten by Spurs, with Julio Arca replacing Lee Cattermole and Dong-Gook Lee for Yakubu, who is ill.

Thank goodness that's all over. Congratulations to Manchester United who inch ever closer to that Premiership title. They just need a point against West Ham next Sunday to secure the title. Obviously it could come sooner depending on what happens between Arsenal and Chelsea tomorrow and the Blues and United on Wednesday.

1434: There is no blood and thunder finish from City. Were you expecting one?

1432: Sun Jihai's back on and United are playing out time deep in City territory. Sun Jiha now throws himself to the ground after a tame tackle from Cristiano Ronaldo. What's wrong with him? He's throwing himself to the ground with great drama all over the place.

1429: Shut-up-shop time for United. John O'Shea replaces Wayne Rooney. A pat on the head for the striker from Sir Alex Ferguson as he wearily traipses off.
