Gazza happy with debut
Paul Gascoigne made his Burnley debut against Bradford
Gascoigne came close to scoring on his debut
Paul Gascoigne could not believe how Bradford goalkeeper Alan Combe saved his free-kick to deny him a goal on his Burnley debut.

Combe touched Gascoigne's right-foot curler away for a corner during the 1-1 draw at Turf Moor to leave the one-time England star dumbfounded.

All in all I really enjoyed playing with the guys
Burnley's Paul Gascoigne

He said: "I don't know how the goalkeeper saved it.

"David Seaman would have let that one in. He really pulled out a fabulous save.

"I'd only played about one game in the last five weeks and it was a bit of a shock the pace of the game," he said.

"It was quick and I'll have to adjust to that in the next couple of games.

"Hopefully we can get into the play-offs and go on from there.

"But all in all I really enjoyed playing with the guys."

Gazza contained

Manager Stan Ternent, who felt Burnley should have had a penalty in the first half when David Johnson went down under a challenge from Gunnar Halle, feels Gascoigne will improve with games.

"I think Paul needs a little game or two," he said.

"Paul had some beautiful touches and he's got class. If we can get a couple of games into him, he will be fine.

Gazza hasn't got the legs to get in behind people - I don't think he caused us any problems
Bradford boss Nicky Law

"Their goalkeeper made a good save from his free-kick, but that's what he's there for."

Johnson had given Burnley the lead on 20 minutes only for Claus Jorgensen to ruin Gascoigne's big night by equalising 12 minutes from time.

Bradford boss Nicky Law felt his side deserved their point.

"No disrespect to Paul Gascoigne and he's been a fantastic player and he's still got some great touches," he said.

"But he hasn't got the legs to get in behind people and we just stood off him and I don't think he caused us any problems.

"Alan made a great save from his free-kick in the first half, but that's Alan's job."
