Senegal satisfied with Bolivia win
Bruno Metsu has managed to cultivate a superb team spirit in the Senegalese side.
Coach Bruno Metsu now wants to play against Argentina
By BBC Online's Chris Simpson in Dakar.

Senegal's 2-1 win against Bolivia has left Coach Bruno Metsu thoroughly contented.

"This is the kind of experience we need," said Metsu.

"In the same way Cameroon went to play Argentina, you need this kind of test before the World Cup".

Small victory against a timid team

Metsu conceded that the Bolivian had not offered much of the 'aggressive style' he associated with South American football.

"There wasn't much danger," he said.

"We need to play more difficult opponents to see where we stand."

Senegal's only remaining scheduled match before the World Cup is the friendly against Saudi Arabia in Riyadh in May.

No-one indispensable

Metsu said players' club commitments made it difficult to set up further games, but he was looking to play a match in Europe.

"There is a possibility we might play Argentina," he said.

Mamadou Niang, who scored the winner on his debut, will be desperate to play in that game.

He said he had been thrilled to pull on a Senegalese shirt for the first time.

"It went straight to my heart. It's something I've always dreamed of."

Niang would not be drawn on his World Cup chances.

"That is up to the coach to decide. I'll be trying to do my best", he said

El Hadj Diouf, said it was good to have new possibilities up front.

"There is me, there is Mamadou, there is Henri Camara and Souleymane Camara. You have to have competition for places. As far as this team is concerned, no one is indispensable".

Senegal's victory over Bolivia was greeted with quiet satisfaction rather than euphoria by supporters and the local press.

"Small victory against a timid team", said Dakar daily, Le Sud.

"A little afternoon revision", said Walfadjri.
