Togo coach Samer Abraw saw his side pegged back
|
Togo's maiden under-17 World Cup appearance ended on Friday after a 2-1 defeat at the hands of host nation South Korea.
Having drawn their opening two Group A matches, the West Africans return home after finishing bottom of the table.
South Korea came from behind to win the game to keep up hopes of qualifying
for the next round.
The three points were the hosts' first points of the competition and it remains to be seen if that record, and a negative goal difference, will be enough to qualify as one
of the third-placed teams.
Having already witnessed defeats by Peru and Costa Rica, home fans were expecting the worst when Lalawele Atakora put Togo in front in the 20th minute.
But Seol Jae-mun bolstered spirits with a goal in added time at the end of the first half.
