Veteran striker Hossam Hassan made his first appearance for Zamalek in over six months, playing in their 2-0 away win over Blida
of Algeria in the Arab Champions League.
Hassan came in as a substitute in the 80th minute of the tie.
The 37-year-old had not played for his club since his suspension in August.
Hassan, who is one of the best strikers in Egyptian football history, was involved in a dispute with his Portuguese manager Eduardo Vingada for
replacing him during matches, which led to his suspension.
Zamalek's victory over the Algerian club kept them on top of
their group and granted them a place in the next round of the competition.
Abdel Halim Ali opened scoring for the visitors after five minutes,
while Mohamed Abdel Wahed sealed victory with another goal in the 85th.
On the other hand, Zamalek's arch-rivals, Ahly, failed to impress at
home, as they drew 0-0 at home to Etoile Sahel of Tunisia.
Libyan referee Abdel Hakim Shelmany ruled out a Zamalek goal by Ahmed Bilal and ignored a penalty kick for their substitute Osama Hosny, who was brought down in the penalty box by the Etoile defenders.
The Arab Champions League includes teams from both Africa and
Asia, with a total of eight African sides battling it out in two
groups of four for the right to advance to the knockout stages.
