Grob's comeback
Grobbelaar won English League and European Cup titles with Liverpool.
Grobbelaar has had an eccentric, but successful, career
Former Liverpool goalkeeper Bruce Grobbelaar could play again, at the age of 44.

He has registered as a player for South African club Hellenic, where is also the coach.

Club officials confirmed that Grobbelaar had registered before the weekend transfer deadline, imposed by the Premier Soccer League.

He will act as the back-up goalkeeper for the Cape Town club, currently in a relegation dogfight.

Grobbelaar last played at English non-league club Northwich Victoria.

The player was forced into action after plans by Hellenic to sign New Zealand international goalkeeper Mike Utting fell apart.

The former Zimbabwe international was fired as coach of Pretoria club SuperSport United in October but was signed by Hellenic to get them out of the relegation zone.

The club has enjoyed three wins on the trot, including a 3-0 thrashing of African Champions League finalists, Mamelodi Sundowns.

It has enabled Hellenic climb out of the relegation zone.

They are placed 16th in the 18-team Premier league.
