2130: England manager Fabio Capello: "I'm happy with the result and happy with the performance of some of the players, especially those that play less than the others. It was an interesting debut for [Jack] Wilshere. It is a little too early to decide my line-up (for Wales Euro 2012 qualifier), but it was a good game for him, while Darren Bent scored and had a chance to add a second. He played well and worked well, and helped the team when we needed to press. No-one is injured which is important for the clubs."

2127: Well into the last five minutes in the Scotland-Northern Ireland match, Craig Levein's men seeing things out rather comfortably.

Internationals Danny: "Full-times. Malta 0-0 Switzerland - the Swiss, of course, are in England's and Wales' Euro qualifying group. The Netherlands have beaten Austria 3-1, with Dirk Kuyt among the Dutch goalscorers. Belgium drew 1-1 with Finland and Poland won 1-0 in Norway. And in Under-21 football, Wales beat Northern Ireland 2-0 - bad night all round for Northern Ireland."

2124: England match-winner Ashley Young: "(The goal) is probably up there with best of them (in my career). I'm delighted to have got on the scoresheet. Hopefully, I have shown that I've come on and done well. Try to establish myself now." Jack Wilshere: "It was great to play for your country and I'm glad my debut was a win. It was a difficult game in midfield and personally pleased with my performance. Quite similar to my role at Arsenal but just not going forward as much and playing with the players I was with made it easy. The main thing is that we won. It was a good performance and we can take a lot from the game."

2123: Oh, Rory Patterson, you have to score there. The Northern Ireland frontman is given the freedom of the Scotland box to rise and meet a delicious cross into the centre, but the Plymouth man can only direct a tame header straight at the keeper. What a waste.

2120: Free-kick, 20 yards out, Scotland midfielder Barry Bannan swings at goal left-footed from wide on the right... Jonathan Tuffey does well in the Northern Ireland goal to tip it up and on to the bar.

2116: The game in Dublin is all sewn up now - it's just a question of how many Scotland will score, I reckon. At the moment, they don't look too frantic about pushing for a fourth.

2105: Not a huge amount to report from proceedings in Dublin, either, where Scotland - three goals to the good - remain in control against Northern Ireland.

2102: Into the last five minutes in Copenhagen, and other than a rousing rendition of "God Save the Queen" from the visiting fans, not a great deal to report. England seeing this game out rather nicely.

2059: RE: the Scotland goal, it was of course Steven Naismith with the lay-off, not Gary. And, re: 2054, I think I meant ... and Darren Bent, rather than ...and Stewart Downing, again. Those of you who noticed those absolutely deliberate (*cough*) mistakes, pat yourselves on the back.

Internationals Danny: "It finished Estonia 2-2 Bulgaria. Estonia in Northern Ireland's Euro qualifying group, Bulgaria in England and Wales' group. Cracking finish to the game, with Ivelin Popov popping in a pen for the late Bulgarian leveller. Meanwhile, a late goal has seen Slovenia win 2-1 in Albania. Slovenia also in Northern Ireland's group."

2057: England's last change - Leighton Baines on for Ashley Cole. Gareth Barry is Don Fabio's third captain of the match.

2054: Approaching the last 10 minutes in Copenhagen and England are looking rather comfortable - both with and without the ball. Scott Parker and Gareth Barry look a far more natural fit in this 4-2-3-1 formation if the second half is anything to go by, while the pace of Ashley Young, Stewart Downing and Darren Bent in attack is causing the Danes all sorts of consternation.

Scotland goal: Ah. Not so encouraging for Northern Ireland now. Scotland work the ball well through the middle before Steven Naismith's flick finds Kris Commons in all sorts of space in the Northern Irish box, the Celtic frontman making no mistake with a clipped finish from six yards.

Internationals Danny: "Big half times. France 0-0 Brazil - although Brazil's Anderson Hernanes has been sent off for violent conduct. And it's Argentina 1-1 Portugal."

2050: Encouraging signs for Northern Ireland at the start of the second half in Dublin, Nigel Worthington's men keeping the ball well at the start of the half - and Rory Patterson as just spun and shot at goal from 20 yards, held low down by Scotland keeper Allan McGregor.

Internationals Danny: "There's a mini-tournament in Cyprus - Ukraine have won it by beating Sweden 5-4 on penalties, while Romania beat hosts Cyprus 5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in the third-place play-off. Symmetrical. Meanwhile, for clarity - earlier, Iran beat Russia 1-0 and Greece beat Canada 1-0. Apologies for any Danny-caused confusion."

2046: We're up and running again in Dublin, Scotland 2-0 Northern Ireland.

England goal: Great goal. Glen Johnson pinches possession off the team in red, bursts forward and feeds Ashley Young for the Aston Villa forward to slide in his first international goal.

2043: A fifth England change - six are allowed - as Stewart Downing replaces Theo Walcott.

2041: Best move of the half from Denmark and once again Christian Eriksen is at the heart of it, the playmaker's back-heel finding Dennis Rommedahl in the box, the winger's low shot held well by Joe Hart in the England goal.

Internationals Danny: "News of a couple of half-times reaches me. It's Germany 1-0 Italy. And it's Farnborough 0-0 Boreham Wood. Not sure that second one is an international, to be fair."

2038: It's been pretty much one-way traffic for England since the break. Much better.

2028: Encouraging, this, from England as Ashley Young's flash header from James Milner's cross is saved.

2027: Great link-up play between Aston Villa pair Ashley Young and Darren Bent as the substitutes cross to the back post finds England's goalscorer rushing in - Denmark keeper Thomas Sorensen doing well to block Bent's header from point-blank range.

Internationals Danny: "That didn't take long. Cristiano Ronaldo equalises for Portugal, who are now 1-1 with Argentina. Meanwhile , anonymous is on the texts again (does he/she NEVER rest?) to ask who scored the only goal as Greece beat Canada 1-0. It was Giannis Fetfatzidis, anonymous. Giannis Fetfatzidis."

2026: Scotland continue to forge chances in Dublin, and James Morrison sends a header goalwards from Alan Hutton's precise cross - Jonathan Tuffey claiming well on the dive. Northern Ireland bounce upfield on the counter in a rare attack, but Niall McGinn's 20-yard effort is deflected wide.

2024: Taking over the England captain's armband from Frank Lampard, by the way, is Ashley Cole.

Internationals Danny: "First blood to Argentina, who lead Portugal 1-0 thanks to Angel Di Maria's 14th-minute goal."

2022: Back up and running in Copenhagen, Denmark 1-1 England.

2021: Changes for England - off go Jack Wilshere, Frank Lampard and Wayne Rooney, on come Scott Parker, Gareth Barry and Ashley Young.

2020: Another chance for Scotland, Phil Bardsley curling towards the top corner right-footed, Jonathan Tuffey tipping around the post in the Northern Ireland goal.

2019: They started fairly well in Dublin, Northern Ireland, but Scotland have upped the tempo now and are well in control. Ten minutes of the half remaining.

Scotland goal: If he meant it, it's genius. He probably didn't, though. James McArthur receives the ball on the right-corner of the 18 yard box, looks up and dinks the ball over the keeper and into the far corner. His celebrations suggest it was a cross.

2010: Scotland are starting to throw their weight around in Dublin now and Kris Commons tees himself up for a volley inside the box, but his snap-shot is deflected away by a desperate Northern Ireland defender's outstretched boot.

2008: So close to a second for Scotland, Stephen Caldwell rising to meet Charlie Adam's corner and thumping a header against the bar.

Internationals Danny: "John Murray on BBC 5 live sports extra says that is the first goal Scotland have scored away from home since 10 September 2008 in Reykjavik, when they won 2-1 against Iceland. On that day, Kirk Broadfoot and Barry Robson got the goals.."

2007: HALF-TIME Denmark 1-1 England
Paul Fletcher's HT snap-shot: "A very entertaining and open first half. Lots of talk before the match about Jack Wilshere on his full debut and the Arsenal man has not let anyone down, but the stand-out player so far has been 18-year-old Dane Christian Eriksen."

2006: That's the half-time whistle, Denmark 1-1 England.

2005: Time enough for Christian Eriksen to swing a quite brilliant free-kick over from the right that is begging to be headed in - but Daniel Agger contrives to miss his header and England escape.

2004: One minute of first-half added time to be played in Copenhagen.

Scotland goal: Breakthrough in Dublin. Charlie Adam's corner, via a flick from Phil Bardsley, causes a wealth of problems for the Northern Irish defence and Kenny Miller is on hand to slam home from a couple of yards to hand Scotland a just-about deserved lead.

1959: Pity. Frank Lampard provides a delicious flicked finish to direct Theo Walcott's low shot home behind his legs 12 yards out, but the official's flag is rightly raised for offside. Shame.

Internationals Danny: "Full-time - Israel 0-2 Serbia - good win for Serbia who are in Northern Ireland's Euro 2012 qualifying group. It also finished Turkey 0-0 South Korea. By the way, a bit more info on that 1-0 Iran win over Russia in Abu Dhabi (see 1852). Mohammad Reza Khalatbari scored a last-minute winner for the Iranians - then got sent off for celebrating. Shirt off, second yellow, see you later type job."

1958: Best chance of the night so far over in Dublin for Scotland as Kris Commons drives down the left and lays it into the path of Kenny Miller in the box, the ex-Rangers man side-footing over from the centre of goal. Should have done better there.

1957: Christian Eriksen has been hugely impressive for Denmark tonight and he tears England apart again, laying in Dennis Rommedahl, whose low shot from the angle is saved by the feet of keeper Joe Hart.

1954: Niall McGinn is causing problems for the Scots in these early stages and he beats the offside trap to get in behind the opposition defence, just failing to get enough power on his shot from the angle to really trouble keeper Allan McGregor.

1952: I tell you what, what a move that is from Denmark. The hosts build ever so patiently before Christian Eriksen bursts, swapping passes with Nicklas Bendtner on the edge of the England box before slamming a low shot that for all the world looks like creeping into the corner - only for his shot to crash off the post.

1949: Half a chance for Scotland in Dublin now as Northern Ireland keeper Jonathan Tuffy dawdles over a clearance allowing Kris Commons to close him down - the ball ricocheting off the Scotland striker and bouncing kindly for the boys in green. Let-off.

1948: Over in Copenhagen, Frank Lampard and Jack Wilshere are just showing signs of earning themselves a bit more space - and the former almost makes the most of said space 30 yards out, taking a touch and lashing a shot in at goal, the ball just swerving wide.

1946: Early burst into the Scotland box from Niall McGinn, the Northern Irelander making his way past two defenders before firing a low cross across the box that just eludes Rory Patterson 12 yards out.

1944: Over in rainy Dublin, Northern Ireland get their match against Scotland under way.

1943: Following a bark of "Press! Press!" from the sidelines, England - led by Frank Lampard - get right up in the grills of the Denmark players and force them back with a good spell of hassle and harry. Good from the visitors.

1941: SCOTLAND v NORTHERN IRELAND (1945)
Alvin McCaig reports: "Plymouth striker Rory Patterson gets the nod ahead of Northern Ireland's record scorer David Healy, who has to settle for a place on the bench. Fulham's Chris Baird starts at left-back with Rory McArdle of Aberdeen at right-back. Scotland have been forced to make a late change to their line-up after Scott Brown was injured in the warm-up, with Wigan's James McArthur taking his place. Gary Caldwell failed a fitness test so his brother and Wigan team-mate Steven partners Christophe Berra in central defence."

1940: James Milner and Theo Walcott have swapped sides and the former, as a result, is getting a bit of joy now - his latest furrow down the right ending with a looped cross that is well claimed by Thomas Sorensen in the Denmark goal.

1938: Good move from England, culminating in James Milner paying a beauty of a pass across the face of goal that Darren Bent, sliding in, is inches away from stabbing into the net from six yards. Better from Don Fabio's men.

1934: Denmark definitely bossing things in Copenhagen, England a little off-kilter as they get used to their 4-2-3-1 formation. The full-backs, in particular, are looking exposed. I have to say, too, that captain Frank Lampard has been fairly anonymous.

Internationals Danny: "Bit of an internationals Danny fail - Kazakhstan did of course draw 1-1 with Belarus thanks to Sergei Ostapenko's 88th-minute equaliser. Thanks to the tireless anonymous who texted in to 81111 to let me know. Meanwhile, Hungary have won 2-0 against Azerbaijan."

1930: Ajax youngster Christian Eriksen - said to be the future of Danish football - is running the show for the hosts, and he almost carves England open again, only a Jack Wilshere clearance inside the area halting another fine home attack. This match is so open.

England goal: Immediate response. Theo Walcott does excellently on the right of the box, wriggling free of Simon Poulsen and sending a low cross across the six-yard box, laying it on a plate for Darren Bent to tap into an empty net.

1928: GOALFLASH Denmark 1-1 England (Bent)

Denmark goal: Less than eight minutes on the clock, and England are cut apart. Christian Eriksen is the creator, swinging a cross over from the right and Daniel Agger - ghosting between John Terry and Michael Dawson in the box - sends a flying header high into the net from 16 yards.

1927: GOALFLASH Denmark 1-0 England (Agger)

1926: End-to-end, real open stuff in Copenhagen here. Denmark looking very dangerous...

1924: And now a fabulous chance for England in these open early stages - Darren Bent latching on to a poor back-pass and even though his effort is saved, Wayne Rooney follows up and just has a couple of back-tracking defenders to finish past with the keeper stranded behind him... Mathias Jorgensen gets across to clear the frontman's tame side-footed effort, though. Waste.

1922: A couple of chances in quick succession for Nicklas Bendter, though, as first he is set through by Christian Eriksen - only to be held up by a close offside decision - and then he slaps wide from outside the area.

1920: Jack Wilshere gets on the ball nice and early, and shows encouragement with a couple of nice passes. Settled quickly on his full debut by the look of things, the Arsenal midfielder.

1910: Fabio Capello on Jack Wilshere: "I monitored Jack Wilshere for a long time at start of the season and he played well but was not ready for the seniors. The last two months he has improved, he is confident and the other Arsenal players are confident with him. I spoke to Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger about the position to play him in on Wednesday and he said he was good going forward and also playing further back."

1904: To add to Fletch's notes, it's worth bearing in mind that after two wins briefly raised spirits following the shocking World Cup display in South Africa, Fabio Capello's England side followed that up with a draw against Montenegro and that awful defeat by France in the last two matches of last year. Make no mistake - Capello and England need a win and a performance tonight, big time.

Paul Fletcher reports: "The Parken Stadium in Copenhagen witnessed Sven-Goran Eriksson's heaviest defeat as England coach, his team conceding three goals in seven forgettable second-half minutes against Denmark on their way to a 4-1 humbling in August 2005. Their next fixture was a crucial Euro qualifier against Wales. As fate would have it, the next match for Fabio Capello's England is a Euro 2012 qualifier against Wales. Lets hope their preparation is better this time around."

Nigel Worthington's squad has been ravaged by injuries so the opener gives a few fringe players the chance to impress. Withdrawals have also hit Scotland's preparations and Kenny Miller, now of Bursaspor and until recently of Rangers, will captain the team for the first time in the absence of the injured Darren Fletcher."
