In the League, the team find themselves bound for Cardiff after a play-off semi-final win over Nottingham Forest
They meet Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Millennium Stadium but are outplayed in a one-sided 3-0 defeat
The next year is one of frustration for the Blades as they end up in eighth and miss a play-off berth by only two points
Another eighth place in 2004/05 sees Warnock's men miss out again but this seems to only increase their resolve
The following April, Sheffield United seal promotion with two games to spare after drawing with Leeds at Bramall Lane
The Blades find life at the higher level a challenge but some notable wins give them hope of survival
Continued good results see Warnock's side go 10 points clear of the relegation zone in February
However, two wins from their remaining 11 games sees them relegated and leads to Warnock's decision to leave the club
